Memory (Concentration)
Memory is a classic card-matching game for 1-6 players. All cards are laid face down, and players take turns flipping two at a time, trying to find matching pairs. With a single player it becomes a solitaire challenge to clear the board, racing to find every pair.
Setup
•
Cards: A standard 52-card deck is shuffled and laid face down in a grid
•
Matched piles: Each player has a scoring pile that starts empty
How to Play
On Your Turn
1.
Flip two cards: Choose any two face-down cards on the board and flip them face up so all players can see them.
2.
If the cards match (same rank):
•
Take both cards and add them to your matched pile
•
You get another turn immediately
3.
If the cards do not match:
•
Both cards are flipped back face down in their original positions
•
Your turn ends and play passes to the next player
What Counts as a Match
Two cards match if they share the same rank (e.g., two 7s, two Kings, two Aces), regardless of suit or color. With a standard 52-card deck there are 26 pairs to find.
Winning
The game ends when all pairs have been matched and the board is empty.
Each player counts their collected pairs. The player with the most pairs wins!
Strategy Tips
•
Watch your opponents: Pay close attention when other players flip cards. Remembering where unmatched cards are located gives you a huge advantage on your next turn.
•
Cards stay in place: Once a card is flipped back face down, it must remain in its original position.
