Lexigrid
Find as many unique English words as you can on a shared grid of random letters.
Solo play is a high-score hunt. With two or more seekers, everyone hunts at the
same time without seeing each other's lists. When time runs out, only words you
alone found score — anything two people both wrote down cancels.
Everyone hunts against one shared hourglass. Choose 180 seconds (classic)
or 90 seconds (quick round). When the sand runs out, the round is scored.
There is no Done button.
Setup
1.
Choose a grid size: 4×4 (classic) or 5×5 (larger hunt).
2.
Choose a minimum word length: 3 letters, or 4 for a harder table.
3.
Choose a round length: 180 or 90 seconds.
4.
Letter cubes are shuffled onto the grid, then each cube is rolled. Every
cube has at least one vowel face. Q is a Qu tile and counts as two
letters when you spell and when you score.
Everyone looks at the same grid and hunts at once. Your current path and the
words you have already submitted stay private until the hourglass empties.
How to spell
Words are formed by connecting adjacent letters. Adjacent means the eight
surrounding cells: horizontal, vertical, or diagonal. Paths may zig-zag.
•
You may not reuse the same tile in one word. If you need two E's, there must
be two E tiles on the path.
•
Tap a letter to start a path, or press and drag through letters. Gold rings
mark every cell you may add next.
•
Back drops the last letter. Clear abandons the path.
•
Submit claims the path when it is a valid, new word of at least the
minimum length.
•
You can claim several words that share a path by submitting each one. After
CARES you may retrace CARE and CAR.
•
The hourglass and countdown show how much of the shared hunt remains. When
they empty, the hunt ends — finish the word you are on before the sand does,
or it is lost.
Valid words
A submitted word must appear in the game's English word list.
Allowed: common nouns, verbs, adjectives, adverbs, plurals, and ordinary verb
tenses.
Not allowed: proper names, acronyms and abbreviations, contractions,
hyphenated words, and foreign words that are not part of ordinary English. A
word that is also a name or an acronym still counts when it has an ordinary
meaning too — MARK, ROSE and LASER submit; AARON, TOKYO and NASA do not. The
digital list is a common-English extract, so some dictionary-legal rarities will
not submit.
Scoring
When the hourglass empties, shared words are cancelled. A word found by more
than one player scores zero for everyone. Only unique words remain. Lists
are then revealed so everyone can see what cancelled.
If the minimum length is 4, the 3-letter tier is simply unused. Qu counts as
two letters, so Q-I-T spells QUIT (4 letters, 1 point).
Winning
The seat with the highest unique-word total wins. On a tie, the seat whose
longest unique word is longer wins. If that is also tied, the round is a draw.
Solo play always scores the words you found (nothing to cancel) and records you
as the winner of the hunt so the score can stand.
