Setup

1.
The deal alternates each hand (Player 1 deals first). The first dealer alternates between games: Player 1 deals first in the first game, Player 2 in the next, and so on.
2.
Each player is dealt 6 cards.
3.
Each player discards 2 cards face-down into the crib. The crib belongs to the dealer and is counted last during The Show.
4.
The non-dealer cuts; the top card becomes the face-up starter.
5.
His Heels: if the starter is a Jack, the dealer immediately scores 2.

The Play (Pegging)

Players alternate playing one card at a time. Keep a running total of card values. The total cannot exceed 31.
•
The non-dealer plays first.
•
If you cannot play without going over 31, say Go. The other player continues as long as they can.
•
The player who plays the last card of a count scores 1 for Go (or 2 if the total is exactly 31). Then the count resets to 0, and the player who did not play that last card leads the next count.
•
A player who has played all four cards says Go whenever it is their turn; the other player plays on alone.
•
Continue until all 8 cards have been played. The very last card scores 1 (or 2 if it makes exactly 31).
