Crazy Eights

Objective

Be the first player to get rid of all the cards in your hand.

Setup

•
Players: 2 to 6 players
•
Deck: A standard 52-card deck
•
Dealing: 7 cards each for 2 players, 5 cards each for 3 or more players
•
Draw pile: Remaining cards placed face-down in the center
•
Discard pile: Top card from the draw pile is flipped face-up to start
If the starting card is an action card (8, 2, Jack, Queen, or Ace), it is buried back into the deck and a new card is flipped.

How to Play

Play starts with Player 1 and moves clockwise. On your turn, play one card from your hand onto the discard pile. A card is valid if it matches the top of the discard pile by:
•
Suit: Same suit (e.g., 2 of Hearts on 7 of Hearts)
•
Rank: Same number or face value (e.g., Queen of Spades on Queen of Diamonds)
If a suit was declared (after an 8 was played), you must match the declared suit instead.

Drawing Cards

If you cannot play a matching card or an 8, you must draw one card from the draw pile. Your turn ends after drawing.
If the draw pile runs out, the discard pile (except the top card) is shuffled and turned face-down to form a new draw pile.

Action Cards

8s — Wild

Play an 8 at any time, regardless of suit or rank. Declare a new suit that the next player must match or play another 8.

2s — Draw Two

The next player must draw 2 cards and forfeit their turn. Stacking rule: If the victim holds a 2, they can play it to pass the penalty (+2 more) to the next player. This continues until someone must accept the full draw penalty.

Jacks — Trade Hands

Trade your entire hand with another player of your choice. Play continues to the next player.

Queens — Skip

The next player in rotation loses their turn and is skipped. In a 2-player game, this gives you another turn.

Aces — Reverse

The direction of play reverses (clockwise becomes counter-clockwise). In a 2-player game, this acts as a Skip.

Winning

The round ends when a player plays their final card. That player wins!

Scoring (Multi-round)

When playing multiple rounds, the winner scores based on cards left in opponents' hands:
